| no partners | | Driving to the trailhead this morning two guys in a Forester pulled up next to me then back off and pulled up again. I knew it was trouble. So I followed Bruce and Joe for a while and watched Bruce play bumper tag with a white pickup truck that came from Florence Junction. The entertainment started early but I pulled off at Pinto Valley mine and they continued on. The road down to Miles Ranch is a little rough but nothing you can't get by with high clearance. There were several pickups parked along the way which told me hunting season is on. I still didn't see another person out on the trails. I did see 1 white-tailed buck and 6 does along the way. Only one doe stopped for a photo. The trails are washed out, burnt, overgrown, rocky, down right ugly and I love it. I took a few detours to revisit ruins which are easier to access and more visible since the burn but due to size or positioning still tough to get good photos of. I didn't have my track for Wildcat Canyon (it's on my other GPS) so I knew I might lose the trail. I hiked up a ridge and found where I should have turned but decide to continue around peak 4597. The miles were the same but that added another 500 AEG. It was a nice day out but the off-trail and side trips on this one tired me out. |
