| no partners | | I went by this spring in the Tonto National Forest last Thursday as part of a longer loop trek. I was messaged by @Sun_Ray after the fact to tell me that he had lost his keys near the spring box some time back and if I were to go up there again would I please take a look for them. His said his doctor temporarily won't him let make that climb yet (a likely story) so I got Cathy on board and we went up today to find Brian's keys.
The climb up was beautiful and much less taxing than last week on that bad tread. I just got over a cold and it's good to have some energy back. Now the bad luck story...in the 7 days since I was there, the horsemen in the area came up and cleaned out the spring box of all the fine silt like dirt that had filled it up. They dumped it all right where Brian suggested I look for his keys. To make matters worse the grass was very healthy and thick.
We brought heavy gloves along to look around with and part the seas of grass but it was no use. I think a metal detector is the only hope at this point!
On the way back down we took our time and enjoyed the views. We stopped at the creek and soaked our feet in the ice cold water. So cold it hurt, but we felt better for doing it. A group of three hikers came by and saw us and thought we didn't know how to cross the creek and offered to help us. We explained that we were fine but had just walked on ankle turners for 2 miles of steep trail and we were just coolin' off the 'dogs'. Sorry we came back empty handed Brian. |

Wildflowers Observation Isolated It's starting...probably going to be a nice spring bloom starting in a few weeks. |
