It was time for the 6yo to summit Flatiron. Early start, got lost in LDSP, reached the Draw in 1.5 hours. After a chilly second-breakfast we continued on, finding a new way around some of the climb post-Draw that involved scrambling up the drainage, and then got terribly off track near the top and found an alternate, more exposed, route up. Made it up in 3.5 hours total. There were a few people on top, including some pups and another kid that was maybe 8 or 9, overall not crowded given the holiday. Was better about staying on track on the way down. Kid needed some help on the downclimbs, mostly spotted him and provided a few lifts, but he did every single climb on the way up by himself. Fantastic weather, maybe a bit on the chilly side, good company on the trail, and the look of pride on this kid's face was absolutely priceless.
