Seems like the best option these days to see the least number of people out and to have plenty of space when you do see anyone. Got an early 6:30am start and headed south this time from where we started on Sunday. Walking south from this spot is walking through the economic strata of where people live. The big money homes are farthest north (with the views of the valley and Four Peaks), and then the decent houses, then to the apartment complexes and trailer parks, then back to nicer, more manicured neighborhoods. This section for the most part is looking into backyards with occasional distant views of some mountains.
I got about a half mile from Harmony Park, near Val Vista and Southern, when I decided to take a detour directly back to my house rather than hike all way back up the canal to my car. Saved a little time and extra walking. Done by 10:30am and got over 12 miles in. Making due with the current circumstances, nice to get a workout done rather early in the day. It's fun to see the routes connect together on my computer as I get more of the Maricopa Trail done. |
