| partners | | | Started from the main parking lot just after 0800. East on Quartz Mine, with a quick side trip to Watson Overlook, where we saw a rattler. Reached Tortuga after a couple of miles, then took that east to the turn for Javelina Summit. Slow hike up, since it was getting pretty warm. We took a nice break at the top, then retraced our steps back to the trailhead. Saw one chuckwalla on the way back. We’ll be back a couple more times in the next few weeks to hit most of the trails out here, but will have to start earlier now that it’s getting hot. |
