Yea, one of these days
I'm going to climb that mountain.
Oh play me some mountain music..." ~Alabama
Whose bright idea was it to climb Strawberry Mountain?!?
This no trail, steep slip n slide, bushwack atop a false summit (1st mountain), then the 2nd summit, was No Joke.
Thank goodness for "bread crumbs" hiking because even with trackers set, we managed to lose our way on the pick-n-go-seek descent and ended up, near the bottom, trespassing our way through (unbeknown to us at the time) a gated community that we were locked inside of!
The route for this "hike" states 4.1 mi rt. It was bt 6-9 (trackers conflicted). Research said 1400aeg, it was actually 2848 aeg according to another app. Who knows...
It was hot, it was awful and it was AWESOME.
Great views, cool ledges, good company with a fellow social distancer, my neighbor Brenda. She, a novice hiker, but in fantastic shape, killed this butt-buster and we made a good team for what to me was a challenging humbler of a hike.
Two mountains, one hike, 3k(?) aeg and we'll meet in the middle of the 2 tracks and call it 7 miles rt.
Next up for this area? Strawberry ridgeline when it cools down! |
