Intended to head to our favorite beach front spot at Coon Bluff, but when we arrived a little before 6pm, there was a huge fire! We saw flames, a ton of smoke and police and fire rushing in. People were running out of the water and they shut the site down immediately. Note: I didn’t see any news coverage, so I’m pretty sure they contained it quickly. Anyway, we headed over to Phon D Sutton instead and went towards the left to avoid crowds. We ended up bushwhacking for a bit before finally finding a chill spot. Apparently I cannot get enough bushwhacking 😅 We floated for a bit, watched sunset and some cliff jumpers. Then we found a nice path on the way out woohoo! Full moon tonight!
Edit: I learned the fire was caused by fireworks! One and a half acres were burnt near the coon bluff rec area. :(
