A little routin & scoutin on AZT Passage 27 today.

The grade down the north side to the East Clear Creek crossing is way steeper than anyone cares for so a realignment is on the "maybe-someday" list. These things start somewhere, first some computer doodling, then go look. Today was go-look. We dropped off the ridge down a gentle grade that connected to the existing route. On the way we crossed a couple fathom-drainages--deeply incised cuts through the landscape that don't show up on the topo maps. One option would be to renain on part of the current route to drop into the creek. Another more grandiose plan would be to contour west of the current route all the way to the top. This looks promising but has a serious cliff band to cross. Finding this will take some more scouting.
