Headed out east yesterday to the Campaign TH to hike up Reavis Gap. The first mile of this hike is up and around the Reavis Mountain School which is meh. Then you drop into Campaign Creek where the scenery changes as there was a ton of water flowing in the creek. Got to the Reavis Gap intersection and up we go. The next part is a 1,500 feet climb up a steep, slippery trail up to Reavis Gap. The Reavis Gap area is a semi flatish area where even post fire the grass is growing like a weed, it was EVERYWHERE and was bone dry. Continued on heading down into the Pine Creek drainage and had some lunch under the big pines. Fortunately most of this area was spared from the fire. Hiked back up and took the Two Bar section of the AZT over to Walnut Spring to have a look, then headed back down the mountain. Talked with a guy bow hunting and saw one other backpacker and that was it for the day. The trail is exactly how I remember it; it makes you work hard to get up and is a calf killer.
