| no partners | | I had a semi-guided tour of the Palo Verde Hills a few years ago courtesy of @Petrophile. There are a lots of petroglyphs in these dry hills. And there are many little hills so after some research I decided to check out a few more. I drove the desert roads between these hills and had 5 short walks.
First hill is close to the main road and had the expected amount of discarded water bottles, conv. store coffee cups, and Bud Light cans along the crest. I also found some modern rock arranging on top and a (first ever) cigarette cache. But except for a single rock alignment, nothing that looked ancient.
Next was a small hill that I just took a chance on - plenty of petroglyphs there.
The third hill definitely had some ancient signs with some rock arrangements and a cleared (ceremonial?) path. But I saw only one petroglyph. The 4th hill had a few minor petroglyphs.
In researching the area I ran across several pictures of a nice petroglyph near by at Saddle Mountain. There were enough bread crumbs that I figured it'd be easy to find. I was in the area so I detoured over and took some pictures. A very nice and unusual petroglyph. |
