Work is well underway on improvements to the Highline Trail #31 and I made a couple day trips to flag ahead of, and work behind, the machine. Volunteers completed a short realignment around the steep and eroding drop just west of Camp Geronimo last month. And USFS contractors have begun machine work, one proceeding east from Camp Geronimo TH and another from the FR 646 junction. They are racing the weather now, hoping to make good progress before the snow flies and Mexican Spotted Owl restrictions halt the work March-September next season.

So rewarding to see the change from steep, ditched, eroding, rocky stretches to smooth, rolling passages.
