| no partners | | I chose the Woodbury TH to avoid FR 172A. FR 172 is rough but passable with high clearance. The washes that cross the road are the worst areas. I was the only vehicle at the trailhead at 7:20am. There were strong gusts of wind but only on some sections of the trail. The JF trail is faint where overgrown, painful where the catclaw has taken over and messed up near the creek crossings. The same for the Rogers Trough trail. I didn't see any other hikers but there were two other vehicles at the trailhead when I returned. I hiked down to Angel Basin and climbed up one of the side hills to look around. I ran into an area on the hill with many pot sherds. The area was not level and no level spot above so not sure why the sherds were there. I considered hiking down Frog Tanks trail but couldn't find where it was so decided to opt of the catclaw fest. A nice day on trails that will need some work. |
