| no partners | | | Trail starts at Rio Grande Del Norte parking lot along with the Rift Valley Mountain Bike trail system. It is basically a trail down into the Rio Grande canyon down to the river. I ran it to the bridge. There is a trail head entrance at the bottom as well. There is a small $5 a night camp ground down there as well. It was roughly. 4 miles to the bridge and back with about 700’ AEG. took about 45 min. It’s a nice grade for running uphill although it is pretty rocky and rough in spots. The bridge is the takeout for more challenging whitewater sections farther up the canyon. I wanted to try another trail and scope out the calmer section below the bridge people paddle board for my wife. Nice little trail shorter than I expected, but worthwhile hike during my time off. |
