The last time I was at this Flagstaff site was back in 2016. I thought I had seen everything but I found out there was a great loci that I walked past in 2016. I brought some extra sets of eyes on this trip so I would not miss anything. We found two new loci.
The photoset starts with the main site that actually has sign now that say "petroglyph point". If you want to see more you still have to do some scrambling along the cliffs. Petroglyph point only shows one giant panel. We found two new sites north of the main canyon site. Then we found the site I was looking for. To my suprise there was signage about the panel. There were also two cameras at this site. Very nice waterbird panel.
One cheeseburger, fries, and drink later, we were on the west side of Flagstaff at 8500ft to do our second hike of the day. We followed a jeep trail to a prehistoric/historic site to a spring. We found the site that is easy to find since the trail leads you to the points of interest. We look at the prehistoric site first. This site had petroglyphs and pictographs. Really enjoyed this site. We also found a historic shelter that was a small cave in the site of hill near the spring. |
