| no partners | | I had not done this hike in a couple of years so I decided to check it out today.
There was water in the creek crossings within about 2 miles of the TH. This section was a nice part of the hike.
There was plenty of water flowing at the confluence in Hells Gate.
It was a sunny day but the temperatures were pleasant. I would not want to come back out of Hells Gate on a hot day (about 70% of the elevation gain on this hike is on the way back).
On the way to Hells Gate, not far before El Grande Tank, I bagged the Hells Gate Ridge highpoint, which was only 200-300 feet off of the trail.
I did not see another person on the entire hike. I think that this was the first time that I had Hells Gate all to myself. I could easily have spent the entire day in Hells Gate. |

Wildflowers Observation Isolated There were a few wildflowers in the meadow above Hells Gate, but that was about it. With the cooler than normal winter, flowers in this area won't be much until later this month. |
