| no partners | | Hiked to Geronimo's Head today. Had the entire mountain to myself on a beautiful sunny day. This was my second attempt and it was successful. I downloaded Kanode's route (the official route) and had it on my GPS. I followed it except for the beginning part since I parked in the upper lot on the dirt road just past the museum and before the fake bridge which did have some overflow today (but still passable). From my parking spot I went straight up on a ridgeline to intersect Kanode's GPS track. It is not necessary to drop down to the creek from that parking lot.
I made a few mistakes along the way that cost about an hour and the round trip took me 8 hours. I'm sure most of you could do it faster. I don't think I would have been able to navigate that without Kanode's route on my GPS so I'm thankful it was there. |
