Some clouds to the north and east, even looked like some rain in the distance, but they quickly dissipated. Slightly warm to start, but it quickly cooled to almost perfect temps as the sun set and we gained elevation.
Chris was feeling a little blah, so he took a break near the junction with the regular forest road while Wally and I continued to the summit. No lights needed on the upper part of the road thanks to the moonlight, which was almost blinding when we were facing it directly. Good views from the summit.
Quick hike back down, caught up with Chris, and pleasant conversation the final few miles back to the vehicles. The lower part of the road is rocky/rutted enough to need lights to keep from tripping over the rock. Finished up right around midnight. Good to see Wally again! |
