Where are we? These temps :D . I got up a little earlier, well at least for me, 6:15AM, to get in a couple extra miles hiking with a 20 minute drive. I'm always wanting a little elevation gain on these 6 mile or so hikes. Luckily I won't being doing much elevation gain on my 6 nite Glacier backpack trip, except for the off trail trek to Margaret Lake and the last day out.

From 36th St TH I was glad to be greeted with a slight breeze which would pick up during the hike as I started west around Happy Hour Ridge to Trail 100 and then up the hill to VOAZ. It was interesting that at one little hill saddle I encountered two hikers taking two different paths in this one area, one going up and the other going down. I headed east on 100 and then down through a drainage off of 100 heading south and slightly west. Today the hill seemed longer.

Rather than going up VOAZ I headed west on #1A over to Irregular C. I like the grade on this trail as it gets me up to its saddle where I took a 20 second break in the shade before going down to link up with the 302. A couple fellas were doing some trail work on the Circumference part below me. The first part of the 302 has a nice grade but the steps are a little steep and need some work. It's a tough little climb up them in some areas. However, it is short-lived and before you know it, you are gratefully at the saddle. I took a couple minute break enjoying the breeze and admiring a really pretty dog standing on the other bench. There was at least 6 hikers here before I headed back down the way I came.

Getting down the step area is a bit of a pain but doesn't last long and before I knew it I was back on the Irregular C. For some reason it seemed longer than I remember going up it. I encountered five hikers before reaching Perl Charles #1A. As I came to the one bench a hiker was imitating a lizard :) before continuing on. I jumped on the VOAZ and up I went. Once again this is a nice grade and the breeze was picking up and so was I. I saw two hikers on the way. At the saddle a biker was there and I would encounter him coming back up as he said one of the turns was too tough for him. I would see two other hikers on my way down.

I would only see one bike rider as I took 1A east, and then north and east of Happy Hour Ridge. The breeze kept me happy and I would see the last hikers of the day as I headed north. And then I remembered, I needed to take my new Pany ZS80 for a trial run. I learned when watching a video that I could take a picture while filming so I tried that out. It doesn't do as nice a job as the Ultra 22 with the movies or picture taking but you just can't beat that zoom. I zoomed to the southeast where they are making good progress on the house up by Ruth Hamilton Trail.

I tried to pick up the pace for the last of the hike and the breeze tried to keep up with me  .

WATCH 6:55-9:18AM, 5.95 miles, 1492-2111 elevation. 29% Zone 5 max, 36% Zone 4 anaerobic, 33% Zone 3 aerobic burning 925 calories. Starting temp 75.1 sunny and 19% humidity.

FYI the only additional benefit of the ZS80 over the ZS70 is (the price is more or less the same but a little harder to find the 70):
Viewfinder Magnif. 0.53x vs 0.46x
Viewfinder Resolution 2330k dot vs 1166k dot (99% higher resolution)
Bluetooth Yes vs No (Connect your camera to other devices via Blueetooth)
UHS Card Support UHS-I vs none (Read/Write in High Speeds.)

There just isn't another equivalent travel camera out there; believe me; Ambika and I have been looking. The price has only come down $50 since its release in April 2019 and they haven't made a new model yet so I'm afraid, this is the last of the line. However, this camera can't compete with the Ultra 22 in regard to movie stabilization, audio and picture quality so for me, it's really all about the zoom.

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled.
