Day 2 of the road trip and my plan was to do part of this AZT passage that crosses the I-10. It's mainly flat and it pretty much along the way home and has negligible extra driving distance.

We started at the Gabe Zimmerman TH, hiked south 6.4 miles to SR83 and turned around and headed back. Weather was almost cool when we started, the light clouds to the east and low sun and shadows helped a lot. Saw a horse rider at first, then 3 trail runners, then some bikers the rest of the way.

The scenery wasn't nearly as nice as the day before, but it was still very peaceful and the flat grade made things much nicer in terms of exertion. We made excellent time and i was done by 11am (Wally probably around 10am). Nice to hike this area and explore it a bit after driving thru for so many years.
