| no partners | | I saw that an official route was posted for the Flycatcher Trail by Nightstalker and that this was a new trail that's not on any of the most recent maps posted on the Maricopa.gov website. This area has mostly level trails and doesn't take too long to drive to thanks to the freeways, so with the heat this seemed like the natural choice for the day.
Started from the rodeo area and did a Figure8 starting on the Coldwater to Butterfield, then Gadsden, Flycatcher, Gadsden, Butterfield and Coldwater back to the lot. Saw 3 hikers and one trail runner. 2 hikers and the trail runner were within the first 20 minutes, the last hiker I saw during my last 20 minutes. Weather wasn't too hot thanks to my early start, but it was a bit toasty by the end. Grasses look brown and torched from the heat and lack of rain for the typical toasted desert July scenery. |
