| partners | | | I saw this from Google earth and it looked interesting so we did a little side trip on our way to Lubbock. The nature trail is a 1 mile loop that takes you through the lava flow. Did some short off trail jaunts (less than 50 yards) and realized this is not a place for off trail, you would go through some boots pretty fast. Best to visit in the winter because it looks like this area could get pretty hot in the summer. I wouldn't recommend making special plans to hike in this area but if you happen to be in the area it is worth the stop even if only to use the facilities (it's a long drive from Socorro after morning coffee). |
