| no partners | | Needed to go to Trader Joe's so planned this hike prior. It was a nice afternoon as I headed out to do a counter-clockwise loop. My legs still seemed sore from my Sunday hike and Monday gym class, so I already tried to figure out a lesser loop. I continued around Happy Hour Ridge until the west side where I decided to tackle the hill up and over and eventually join up with 100. The crossover was a new trail to me and it zig zagged a bit but got me to where I wanted to be.
My objective for the day was to find the route to the new trail I saw when I was last out here. It meets up with 1a just before it starts climbing south to the saddle. Surprisingly, with more zig zag and zag zig, I met right up with it without backtracking or anything. That was also new trail to me. I finished off the southside of 1a and headed over to 8. I crossed over a tad too soon and made my way over to the wash, in and out and headed south back to 38th St. I took off my hat and sunglasses to enjoy the deeply overcast skies. Near the TH a mom and her two sons asked me where the parking lot was. I told them and showed them. I sure hope that's the one they started at.
I saw 8 hikers, and 8 bikeriders, 2 squirrels, 1 hummingbird.
WATCH actually told me I completed my objective when I still had another couple miles to go.
4.72 mi, 3:10-4:44PM, 1471-1741 elevation, 132 bpm/161 max, 34% Zone 5 max, 55% Zone 4 anaerobic, 10% Zone 3 aerobic burning 635 calories (In N Out burger/fries 720). Temp was a lovely 73.3, 18% humidity (seemed higher), wind at 3.7mph from the south. |

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled. |
