We were lucky to find a parking spot available at noon at the trailhead at 32nd Street and Lincoln. We headed up the Quartz Ridge Trail, and made a nice loop around several of the peaks, including Piestewa Peak. All the trails were well-defined, although there were a lot of loose rocks, which caused some slippery descents.

There were some nice views on the backside of the peaks, with few people, so at times it was hard to believe that we were in the middle of a major city. There are so many trails back there, so there are multiple ways to make a loop hike. We ended up on the Piestewa Summit trail for a short distance, and the trail that we were on turned into a paved trail, which entered the Biltmore Hillside Villas gated neighborhood, which we meandered through to return to our car. The sun got pretty warm and it was a beautiful day. Overall, a nice relaxing hike with some nice views in the middle of the city.
