Brown's Cave

Post by joebartels »

This is likely a long shot, but it doesn't hurt to post. I'd like to hike Brown's Cave on Dec 7th which is a Sunday. This is a great hike that will be in peak Autumn foliage (darn near the latest stand in the continental US) at it's destination. My last hike four years ago was cut short as Fritzski had to return to his family. I'd like to venture down just a tad bit further to the lake. The hike is mildly strenuous but nothing overwhelming.

The catch: my new(4th :) ) Tacoma isn't 4x4 so this is all dependant on somebody joining with a beasty 4x4. The road in is horrid and will seriously scratch the paint on your truck. It's kind of equivalent to 5 large steps (similar to the one Tortilla step) and several rough in between miles. The shrubbery that can only be topped by the horrid drive around South Butte. This is an all day adventure from about 3am to 7-8pm. Gee! any takers

Sorry, I've been a little distracted by my 6 month old to reply lately.
I have an empty passenger seat along with a tight fit in the extra cab. Anybody brave enough can jump in the back! :scared:

Glad I'm not the only driver.
My alarm clock doesn't have a 4 on it so I'll probably just sleep out near the trailhead.

Ok I just received some crappy news! I just reminded my wife about the hike and she told me that she had to work, which she said that she originally had the day off. My luck! Shes' fired! So now i have nobody to watch my son for this all day affair! And I was looking forward to adding some Arizona Pin striping to my truck and legs! Sorry guys. This sucks!

I might be interested in this hike. I heard some people talking about that cave a while back. You sure the weather will be agreeable though? I was looking at AJs forecast the other day and it said there was a chance for rain. Still if I have my homework done I would love to finally go on a hike with some people from here (my usual hiking buddies are notoriously unreliable so I usually end up doing solo hikes ><).

Edit: looks like the forecast has changed and it's just going to be partly cloudy on that day. Once again if I have my homework done I really want to join you guys on this it sounds like a blast and I love all those offroad areas around the rolls, me and a buddy just went 4 digging back there 2 weeks ago and it was a blast.

Alright, good call Joe. Back in the game, just thought I'd be fair, just in case.
