iHike, iPod, therefore iAm

Ooooh harsh... I always have music things in my ears. Then again, I mostly hike in wilderness areas where those pesky bike things aren't allowed ;)

I'm surrounded by music at all other times. As soon as my tires/shoes hit dirt, the music goes off.
I can't imagine embedding it into my nature experience. I could see using it if hiking was just for exercise around the town hills.

Hmmmm never heard of quite time.... I like it for hiking out of the Grand Canyon or other trails like that where you need some incentive like I won't stop till the next song comes on. But always only have one earbud in....

I can't hike with the ear buds in - I find myself constantly stopping, taking them out, listening for something, then putting them back in. Ten feet later, we've got the same thing all over. I just love the sounds of nature, of my footfalls, of the world around me. I've considered bringing my player on solo trips, for when I've stopped and things are too quiet (because that's when I generally have the group around me), but I've always forgotten it. I think that the reset is nice - but I might need something if I was going to be alone more than a couple days. The dog isn't much of a conversationalist, and she TOTALLY doesn't appreciate my fire-side singing.

I can see if you are out jogging a loop, or maybe while relaxing in the tent...on the trail however, no thanks. Personally I think I average less than 1 encounter with a human being during any given hike, and most times they are going the other way or off the trail taking a break. So my sound track is the sound of the breeze and whatever the nearby animals are up to. I get enough tunes en-route to work, play, that I rarely need them while actually outside.

Haha, yeah that's always interesting. Sometimes I'll have the same song stuck in my head for weeks.

Rain drops keep falling on... Everybody's doomed!

Word on the street is that rlrjamy enjoys Doris Day's Sentimental Journey over and over. When asked about his affection for the song he states it's nice, to be nice, to the nice.

So bye-bye, miss american pie...

Ok folks follow me on a Sentimental Journey... It was about 7 years ago my daughter was 9 years old. We were at a resturant in CA and she aks me... Daddy, Can we go up there and sing a song?. Of course sweetheart let me go ask, they said no. Can I ask?

We ended up singing the above formentioned song which is the looongest song in history of songs.
