| partners | | Yay - a fire lookout! I'm a sucker for these structures and the hikes to them. I haven't done very many, but I know I'd like to see more. It's a good thing, too. This was the first of two for this past weekend, and I'll be doing another next weekend. Fire lookouts structures are sometimes historic, with a good chance of meeting someone who knows a little something about their history (that person is also known as a lookout). Not so lucky on this trip, though. There wasn't anyone home when we arrived. This is an L-4 cabin, BTW, built in 1936.
Although at a higher elevation than Tucson or Phoenix with some of the hike was in shade, this hike was HOT. I was very thankful that it wasn't too long. Well worth it for the views, too, even if you're not into fire lookout structures. |
