| no partners | | Reno Lookout is located about five miles west on FR 25 off of US 191 (Coronado Trail) about five miles south of Hannagan Meadow. The first 4.5 miles are passenger friendly. The last .5 miles I was white-knuckling it, going nice and slow, just hoping that I wouldn't injure my oil pan again.
The lookout, Jerry, was a bit gruff. He was all business. He had just spotted a lightning-strike-caused fire and he didn't have any time to deal with me. I found out his name from the next lookout down the road, who said that Jerry was always that way. Regardless, he let me in to take a picture of his fire finder. I thanked him for his service and said goodbye.
This tower, incidentally, is nearly identical to the one at Escudilla. The only difference is the catwalk material. This one is see-through and Escudilla's catwalk was solid. |
