| no partners | | Hank and I did Gavilan on our last day in Taos. We needed an easier hike after doing the Lobo Peak loop the day before and wanted time to pack up for our move to Colorado to get some of those Colorado Highs in the following week.
Gavilan did the job for us. It is not an outstanding hike as was Lobo so I wouldn't put it on top of your list. We did meet a local on the hike who liked Gavilan for its openness. She didn't appreciate the dense vegetation in lower Manzanita and Italianos canyons. I love the dense vegetation so different strokes for different folks I guess. |
