| no partners | | AZWaterRat's recent favorable triplog finally convinced me to give lower RTM a shot after years of procrastination. The hike looked much more scenic than I had expected.
I started at the Round The Mountain trailhead and hiked up to the saddle, where I was pleased to see that Marijilda Canyon received relatively minor damage from the fires of years ago. I enjoyed a fine view of the entire area, framed by surviving ponderosa pines and Leding's Hedgehogs, as I descended into the rugged canyon. At Marijilda Creek, there are a couple of small campsites among the trees, and some nice little waterfalls and small pools. With time running low, I turned around there, but I definitely want to return and see more of this great trail.
