| no partners | | OK, I didn't really go on a hike today, but as I sat at my computer posting yesterday's hike, I kept watching the cloud cover on the West end of the Superstitions. And then around 10:00 the clouds slowly lifted showing the snow cover on the Flat Iron.
That's all it took, I grabbed my Canon camera and hit the door in full stride, then I remembered that I was still wearing my slippers. So I slowed down just enough to get myself together and then took off to get some shots.
With the clouds still heavy and no sun, it was hard to get shots to compose properly, but I managed to get enough to calm myself down for the time being and see how they looked on the computer.
I wasn't too impressed with the quality of the shots and worked on them while I had a bite of lunch. The clouds came and went and with each passing, there was a little more snow cover on the mountain. But I kept waiting for the sun to come out between cloud banks and around 2:00 it looked like I better grab the Canon again, it was now or never.
I drove out to the Eastern extreme of Southern Ave, parked in a muddy turn-around and walked out far enough to get away from the houses and telephone posts and started shooting the Superstitions. They were beautiful and I can only hope to duplicate in a picture what I was seeing.
After shooting all the views from this spot, I drove on over to the Eastern end of Broadway Ave to the Broadway T.H. This place was packed with people and cameras, I almost had to beat them off with my tri-pod to get a place in the muddy desert to shoot some more Superstition views.
Even as I was standing in the mud and snapping pictures, It was obvious that the snows on the Superstitions was melting. Some wonderful cloud formations came and went and I had to wait until the clouds and the peaks were just right, then snap another shot. Then it was back to the computer to see what I had done on this outing.
Out of about 200 shots, I selected a group that satisfied my pallet and posted them for your enjoyment. If you weren't able to get out and enjoy the sights today, my sympathy is extended, heck, I even ran out on the NASCAR race at PIR to get these and as I finish this report, the snow on the Superstitions is all but gone now. |

On every trip into the Superstitions, I find another Gold Mine. Today the mine was filled with Memories. I can not wait for the next trip. |
