What better way to start off a new year... an absolutely perfect day for the first hike of the year. Even though there was not a trickle of water over the falls, it wasn't enough to dampen my enthusiasm for the start another great year of hiking.

On the return trip I spent some time setting up some cairns to help direct others from the "new" trail head since it doesn't appear the old one will be open to vehicles soon, it ever again. While doing so I scared up a group of eight whitetail deer and was able to get six of them on one video. Other than that the hike was uneventful.
