I stopped in Seligman for a glance back in time at this old Route 66 historic town. Continued on towards the white-capped San Francisco Peaks near Flagstaff, then down into Sedona. We made the mistake of taking my car over to the trailhead. As we drove down the bumpy rocky road, we regretted not taking the Tahoe which was sitting in a parking lot in Sedona's shopping district. Road got a bit too rough so we pulled over about a mile short of the trailhead (extra distance added into my hike log). The views on this hike are great and the elevation gain is minimal, although most of the gain is packed into the last 300 feet, so it can feel a bit demanding to the unsuspecting novice hiker. No problem for these legs. Devils Bridge was a nice site to see, but the number of people standing on and around it is annoying. Way too many people on the trail for my liking. A better choice would be to do this on a weekday when the weather isn't quite to perfect. |
