| partners | | Part 2 of our Plan B day. We did discuss briefly doing Chimney Rock but Kelly smartly said, let's do Cathedral. When you first look up and start seeing some folks that appear quite tiny toward the skyline, I whispered to myself, "a little more steep than I thot" . However, short and steep is quite doable; especially on a nice bedrock surface.
Per usual, I followed Kelly up. There was a bit of traffic but not too bad. Once you hit the shelf that gives you the great views of Courthouse Butte, it's all good. To the north we could see a house on a bit of a knoll and thot, wouldn't it be nice if we could just drop by for a quick visit just to see the 360 views they had...
Seemingly in no time at all you are at the saddle. We hung out here and exchanged pics of each other at the NW edge. I zoomed into the Creek below. It was quite lush along the creek. As we were getting ready to head down, Kelly walked by the down area and we ran into someone coming from the other side who told us there was an "other" side. Both of us were glad for Kelly's slight navigational error .
We meandered over to the SE side and Kelly got a closer look at some of the spires one can climb. It was nice up and down here too. Before long it's time to head back to the TH. We had thot of doing part of the Templeton Trail but since we hadn't really eaten any lunch on this two hike day AND I was thinkin' Blue Moon Cafe, I told Kelly I was hungry and could we save Templeton for another day? She agreed .
We finished our great Sedona day at the Blue Moon. I tried their specialty Blue Moon brew, it was quite good as was the patty melt. The homemade chips weren't as good as two weeks ago though. Kelly, it was a great day; thanks for making it so much more fun . |

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled. |
