| no partners | | | My goal is to find all the arches in the Goldfield area. We parked at the Dome Mountain TH and hiked across Blue Ridge to FS #1356 where the road travels east toward Packsaddle Rd. After passing Rock House, we walked about 1/2 mile to cairn for trail to the south. We backtracked to a cairn we couldn't see while walking east. From this cairn, we hiked to the Northwest toward the highest peak in that direction. After crossing an arroyo, we headed up to a ridge that continued to the northwest. Eventually, we ran into some cairns that led us to the Arches. With no GPS devices, I am guessing it may have been 1 to 1 1/2 miles from FS #1356. Hiking from Dome Mountain TH and the return took about 5 hours. I would guess total mileage of about 6 miles. We are a bit old and slow, but enjoy the area. |
