| no partners | | Very fun trail (RR grade) that I have always wanted to do, but have put off for years!
Did this one a little different than the description and drove in on the northern Black Hills Back Country Byway entrance and started from where the railroad grade crosses under the byway. Took the grade east for about 3 miles turning around at the 2nd big tressel just before Guthrie. I then took a side trip down to the Gila river for a short swim before heading back. The cottonwoods along the river are just starting to turn yellow on top. Very cool hike and this one will now be put on the annual repeat list! |
