Another day of firsts for me. Been trying to get out to The Battleship for awhile now. Denny and I decided this was to be our venue for the 3rd annual New Years Eve trip.
Both of us had to work New Years Eve day, so the 30th would have to do. Joe joined us, and for a surprise, we stumbled upon Dave1 close to the First Water intersection on our way in!. He joined us up the Ship.
We were treated to a Big Horn Sheep encounter on the way up. My First while hiking! The Sheep passed within 30' of Denny and I. I was upset when I was unable to get any good photos.
We got to the highpoint, had some lunch, and took our New Years Eve shots. On the way back Joe suggested we take a jaunt out to the northern most Tip of the Ship. It was well worth the little effort it took to get out there. Good views abound!
We started down, as and as luck would have it, Denny spots the Big Horn down below us. He appeared upset that we were in a place that he wanted to be. We even caught him Head Butting A Saguaro!

We checked out the "Piece of Pie" on the way out, where Dave posed for some pictures that won't be posted.
Next, it was the rest of the way down and then a side trip into La Barge Lower Box.

What a cool smooth rock area with clear running water. It was here that Dave1 left us for the rest of his hike.
We boulder hopped down La Barge Creek back towards the trail and the trail head.
What a great Hike/Climb to the Boat and Back!
