| no partners | | I scheduled a day off from work after a trip to SF. I haven't been up to Battleship Mountain yet, but it's on my list so I thought I'd head over and check out the route, at least to the alcove.
I started at FW and followed the usual route to the turnoff for Battleship Mtn. I followed that route up to the saddle below the alcove, then headed around to the east side so I could get a look at La Barge Box and the La Barge Creek route towards Canyon Lake. A shuttle hike between Canyon Lake and First Water incorporating La Barge Creek and Battleship Mtn along the way looks like it would be fun.
I then headed up to the alcove where I took a break. I wanted badly to continue on, but I didn't want to search around and hope the route revealed itself to me. That likely wasn't going to happen in the amount of time I had, so I decided to do it another time. Better yet, I think I'll wait to do this hike when I can find a guide to go with me.
