| partners | | Went to Four Peaks and decided to do Browns Peak and Peak 2. But just before we started up the trail a meetup group of 30 showed up at the trailhead. And to make matters worse there were car campers at the TH taking up 5 spots so it was a mess with the small parking area.
We left all the excitement in the parking lot (they were heading to the Amethyst mine) and headed up to Browns. I could call it half the Mother Lode but from the looks of things between Peak 2 and 3 it's probably less than half....maybe a quarter. Not too bad between Browns and Peak 2 with some exposure but everything had good foot and hand holds.
Once on Peak 2 took in the scenery with an adult beverage, some snacks and contemplated a future trip for the whole thing. Returned to the saddle and from there we decided to take an alternate route down the Amethyst trail #253 to the Four Peaks trail #130. Trail #253 is in pretty bad shape and fades out in a few spots. Four Peaks trail is in great shape and found some nice water at Bear Spring.
Great hike...just need to finish the rest of the Mother Lode |
