| partners | | We decided to do a loop hike from 128th St TH in the McDowells and started out on the Marcus Landside trail. What we didn't realize was how popular this trail is particularly with tourists. It was a nice section but somewhat overwhelming with the crowd. After doing the landslide area we cut over into McDowell regional park on the Boulder Trail over to the Pemberton Trail. On the Pemberton we got a nice surprise with some really thick patches of poppies. Only spent a short time on Pemberton before connecting with the Coachwhip where we again hit a very nice patch of poppies...and a snake but not sure what it was
From here we continued on the Coachwhip over to the Windmill trail and eventually headed up the East End trail. The wild flowers were great along these sections especially on the top part of East End trail Despite the popularity of the Marcus Landslide area we saw only one other hiker on the backside and some mountain bikers. It wasn't until we reached the Tom's Thumb area that we starting see people again. |
