| partners | | Joined Mike and Liz for another hike up Hieroglyphics Canyon to Supes peak 5057 on the Supes Ridgeline. We followed the trail initially but soon headed uphill off trail out of the canyon. We made pretty good time uphill with only a few spots of non-technical rock scrambling. Close to the top there is a nice rock chair that Mike remembered from previous trips so we stopped to enjoy it's perfect symmetry. Great for an adult beverage
After that we headed to the top of 5057 and enjoyed a nice lunch with all the great views on top. Very clear day so we could see all the way to the Catalina's by Tucson. Soon it was down the ridgeline trail to our jump off point back into Hiero Canyon. At the very top we followed the route down but soon dropped into the canyon. With all the rain and snow there were some great waterfalls and small pools along the way. Mike mentioned that it's sometimes dry so great to see so much water.
Eventually the canyon turns into a rock hop towards the bottom and near where we hit the trail you see all the people around the Hieroglyphics area. Nice hike off trail with great views on 5057 and cool water in the canyon if you can catch it after a good snow. |
