Roughly a year ago Father Dave, JohnLP and myself all did this hike. Dr. Frick was supposed to come along but had a last minute family emergency. John and I did it from East to West while Dave did it in the opposite direction.

Nick hit me up yesterday to see if I would do it with him since he wasn't able to make it last year. Sure why not! It's a nice section of the GET and hiking with the Dr. is always fun.

We met at the Aravaipa end at 6:30am and dropped off a car, then drove to the Freeman Road Trailhead and started our hike. Weather was great and we were on the trail a tad after 7:30.

Between the Arizona Trail and the GET I have traveled this area quite a few times now but never get tired of it. The desert terrain here is hilly and serene.

Once at the north flowing San Pedro River we saw some Wild Horses. They weren't skiddish so I offered one some of my spicy peanuts. He lapped them right up and was ready for more. Then the Good Doctor pulled an apple from his bag and shared it with the other horse. It was the highlight of the trip for Nick but I'm pretty sure it was the highlight of the week for the horses.

After that we headed on to the next section of the GET. We stopped for some lunch at the transition point which is at Camp Grant Road and Highway 77. While eating we observed some interesting things and then were back on the trail in no time.

The GET 6 goes right by Brandenburg Mountain and it really peaked my interest. That one is going to have to wait for another day but hopefully it won't be too far off in the distant future.

On the way in and on the way out we noticed that Carol Steele's Aravaipa Farms is for sale. I just looked it up and it is offered for a mere $995,000 and includes water rights. Very cool property indeed!
