I hiked the mesa on a day that seemed windier than the last, but had less dust from the sands. Go figure. It was extremely windy on the mesa, with the edge being hard to stand near. I went slightly north to a small cave or depression which was surprisingly moist just as soon as you entered it. It didn't look very deep. I then went over to my usual spot and ran into 3 Germans. I seldom ever see Americans on the trail around here. Usually, they are German.
