In brief:
TH:0655
Brown's Saddle: 0748
Mine: 0836
Summit: 1015
Depart Summit: 1055
Brown's Saddle: 1255
TH: 1355
This hike feels longer than the 6 or so miles listed. There was water flowing in the last gulley at the trail crossing before coming around the corner to the mine. There is good trail to the mine and good time can be made on it, but above the mine it is fairly steep with dense brush. The slope up to the saddle appears to be very active. Most boulders less than 20 cubic feet in volume will move. It was slow going above the mine but straightforward in terms of route finding; go up the bottom of the gulley until you hit the saddle and then bang a right. Nothing even close to dangerous, just bash your way up. Views are great, of course. The route over to the other 3 looks 'narley. Some day. Overall this is a longer and tougher hike than Brown's Peak. |
