This was a gorgeous hike. Someone had said that it was a two-in-one. It was very true! Beautiful riparian area with fall colors and a high desert peak to summit. :y:

Even though it was at least two weeks past the prime, the colors were still very pretty!

While totally worth it, the drive was indeed long. I didn't start hiking until 1030. I think camping near the TH the night before definitely would've been a better option. The weather was overcast for the most part. I got rained on for about 30 minutes going up and for about 2 hours on my way back down. But it wasn't too bad. The wind started really kicking up in certain sections after I turned on the East Divide Trail. On the summit, I sort of felt at times I was about to be blown off of the mountain :lol:

It was beautiful and I stayed up there for quite a bit. Despite my knee giving me a lot of problems and picture taking and filming, I made OK time. It got dark at 1700 and I had to hike with headlamp for about an hour. The rain was really coming down for a long while. Spotted a bob cat in the beam of the headlamp and Wiski gave chase before I called her back. Silly pup

Hope to return next year a couple of weeks early to catch the prime of the colors!
