Snow is still in abundance in May and I've gotten fresh tracks two days in a row two thumbs up. Got a late start so the sun would soften the snow. I could feel my legs all the way up from the previous two days of activities. There were more people on the mountain than I would have liked. I passed a group so after having the summit to myself for about 15 min. It became a party including a husky trying to steal my food out of my hand. The bowl had adequate coverage so I finally got to ride it and below the ridgeline was perfect corn. There were skiers hikers and people on snowshoes. The trail is snow covered from the parking lot. I basically went straight up on the board as skis with the skins and I rode it as a board down which is probably why the distance and AEG is less. It also provided more solitude.
Nevertheless, the views are so amazing from the top with snow I'm not sure why someone would do this hike during the late summer on a rocky desolate trail. |
