| partners | | We reserved a yurt with the Nordic Center outside Flagstaff and originally we were going in the winter but there was lack of snow in February so they let us keep the reservation and we decided to use this weekend. It was also our dog Frank's weekend with easy hike for him to do. The hike in is only 2.7 miles to the Morning Glory yurt but it's just far enough to feel remote. It had a wood burning stove but we sat outside around the nice fire pit and enjoyed the evening. The views of Humphreys were impressive and we hiked a couple of small hills nearby that provided even better views of Humphreys.
The trails around the Nordic Center are mostly named after real trails in the Flagstaff area. We took the Bear Jaw trail to Morning Glory Yurt and then the Abineau Trail back to the Nordic Center completing a nice 7.8 mile loop. Cool network of trails for mountain biking, hiking, snow shoeing, and cross country skiing. |
