Rock Creek used to be trail but we followed creek which was mostly brush free unlike the old trail. Once at the junction of Bull Basin Trail it was smooth sailing as Joe mentioned it had been recently cleared. Up and over the saddle on Bull Basin Trail and we quickly dropped down to Haunted Canyon. Of course great scenery in Haunted Canyon area and Tony Ranch so I can see why it is popular backpacker destination.
After passing Tony Ranch the trail began to disappear. Some sections were still there but as we got further from Tony Ranch it became less manageable. We again resorted to following the creek to avoid brush. Eventually we made it out of the canyon and the easy old road walk back to the vehicle. Highlight was definitely the 2 miles trail section through Tony Ranch and Haunted Canyon. |
