They can be skirted... Very nice. They do raise the issue of safety. Should a rope be set? A mistake would not be pretty...?
Over the upper ridge there are numerous descending options; we chose the eastern fork of Alamo Forks.
Camera glitches and failure to pull the camera out (climbs distract!) left the hike poorly documented.
A month behind on posting: computer issues along with a broken daily pattern. I have been enjoying a twice weekly series of hikes, including a really nice close in canyons... cuts that I have not done for years and rarely took other hikers up into. Ross and Mary, sometimes Teresa and Luster joined in. Second hikes have been up the hill, into the cool! I'll get those all posted over the coming weeks.
Bike riding has also commenced. Even though I parked the truck last January, the biking had just been errands. Now, I'm logging progressive miles. Goal: 50 mile mountain bike ride with 5,000' climbing... 100 mile road bike with 7,000' climbing... by January?
The only pattern yet to kick in: trail running. I can't seem to get that one on track!
Co-op project suspended for August... kicking back in today. That is why there is only a couple of days of hiking each week.
Fall Canyon Series on the Meetup Calendar: mixed bag this year... bit harder than the 2015/2016 Series. I doubt if we'll have the 30+ hikers like that Canyon Light Series. |
