| no partners | | With Mike Mattes on our first visit ever to Picketpost. Don't know how many times I've passed this mountain and always commented; "Gotta climb that one soon". Well "soon" arrived on a Sunday morning and after a rendezvous at the local Starbucks to car pool into Mike's Jeep, we were on our way...
From the Picketpost TH, we made our way south along the AZT. Let's just say we missed the turnoff at the wash and had passed at least a mile too far to the south before we turned around. Turns out we weren't the only ones to make this goof. Met Ian and Lauren on their way down at the dry waterfalls and they commented that they did the very same thing the week previous and had to abandon their attempt to summit until today.
After a great workout to the summit we spent some time reading the journals located in the mailbox. Some funny stories are contained within the text. The story about how the mailbox found its final home is a hoot...
On the way down passed a man and his two dogs and a little later a couple trying to make the summit before sundown.
