It just so happened that there was a dry spell at the same time I had a day off. I normally wouldn't hike this trail on a Sunday, due to the crowds. But it was fine. I started at 5:30 a.m. There were a lot of people ahead of me! Some may have gone up the night before.

At the start, when I was crossing the ski run, I saw a herd of about 7 deer, including at least one very young buck.

Although I really enjoyed hiking up, the hike down, as always, seemed very long and tedious, and my knee started hurting, too. At least my feet didn't hurt!
